A huge THANK YOU to Tiny Township LIONS CLUB who purchased and donated 5 Camp in a Box programs for WATV kids who otherwise could not afford to attend summer camp this summer. Camp in a Box is a unique program created by Tiny Township which brings the magic of camp into the home during this period of social distancing. We Are The Villagers is pleased to announce that it has received funding from the Emergency Community Support Fund, administered by the Community Foundations of Canada and the Huronia Community Foundation, for our program of providing laptops and Internet services for kids in families needing help. This program ensures that the kids can continue their schooling and extra-curricular activities remotely without worrying about the costs. WATV kids get their Certificates of Achievement. In addition to supplying computers for home schooling, WATV included complimentary access to Red Cross Babysitting, Home Alone, My Safe Life and/or Stranger/Danger to all children who received them. We Are The Villagers has been selected by the Government of Ontario as an official supplier of computers for kids for their home schooling! The province unveiled its seven-point summer learning plan today to outline the plans for students to continue their learning through the summer months. Computers are on their way to families in need! This past week, WATV has been busy shipping almost 75 laptop computers to local families who need them to ensure their children are able to continue their school online during these challenging times. Research shows that disadvantaged children suffer disproportionately in times like this - WATV is there to make sure these kids do not fall behind their schoolmates.
